Hi everybody,
My name is Dana Pommet and my wife’s name is Josephine. I was born in Gloucester, Massachusetts, in 1942, and except for a tour in the Navy, lived there for most of my life. I retired to Delray Beach, Florida in December 2000. We love to travel and photography goes hand and hand with that. I went digital about 5 years ago and started posting November 22, 2008. I have met so many wonderful people on RR and that makes this whole process so much more interesting than just posting photos. Thanks for all the comments and keep them coming.
Update  January 2012: After hiding and denying my mild Dyslexia, for most of my professional life, and now fighting with its advancement – I want to thank you all for putting up with my poor typing skills and spelling problems. I know that my spell checker hates me and I now depend completely on audio books rather then actually reading printed books.  Life marches on!  Â

I never knew that these growths were called air plant's! i always assumed that they were just grass where seeds had been dropped by the bird's. Terrific capture and many thanks for the information.

Oh, I LOVE air plants! I had a few when we lived in Florida and I actually didn't kill these plants, LOL...so strange having a plant that doesn't need soil! Such cool and interesting plants!! Great capture!

Super to see this!¬ I have tried growing them, with little success. But Alan is a professional grower of exotics as you know, I'm sure he knows how!

I've seen spiky trees like that, they look quite dangerous! And I love the epiphyte on it...a match made in heaven!

What a shot! I love all of the different plant textures in this: that plant afro and the spikes make a rather wonderful combination. The light is super as are the colors. I'm particularly taken by the various jagged, straight things in this shot. It's very alive and dynamic and I quite like that a lot.

Thanks Dana this looks like one I grow Tillandsia Juncea or possibly T tricolor, its great to see one growing wild, the spine palm looks interesting too, I grow some pretty lethal plants but this would come near the top of the list. By the way Spanish moss is a Bromeliad , T usneoides although it doesn't look like one. Thanks again for a great picture.
