Description
It was misty on the day that Corey and I wandered in the direction of the Chicago River’s North Branch to photograph fog. The city, contrary to its nature, lay blanketed beneath a palpable layer of silence. Fog has the effect on things and Chicago is not immune to the great silencing known to occur when a cloud decides to touch the earth.
This is an image of fog. Not the mist itself, but the beads of it, condensed on a leaf. I was amazed at the immense clarity of those water drops: like beads of glass: like diamonds, polished and scattered by some ethereal being with no real interest in diamonds. As today is jeanbean’s birthday, I’m putting this image up for her.
Happy Birthday to jeanbean! Of course, being in Florida, your birthday is a lot warmer than it would be in Chicago right now. Things are a bit on the gray and um…gray side, but hey, Corey is listening to the theme to Shaft, so all is good. After all, Shaft is one bad mutha—

Fantastic photo! I am always amazed how rain drops or dew drops can adhere to a leaf – even a shiny leaf. I know that there are textures and microscopic filaments but the rain drops are falling from the sky.
