Description

answering the cell phone ;-) In the past Leo has been called a 'museum farmer'! LOL Nowadays students and trainees from agricultural universities come to the farm to learn all about 'modern horse traction' and how to work with horses. Recently over 200 German (organic) farmers traded their tractors for horses!(!) -and see their results improve significantly!(!)- http://www.modern-horse-power.org/ http://www.pferdestark.de/Englisch/Frame%20english.htm http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OQ1fLEQYj28 ;-)) TYallSM for your time & wonderful comments (&fav.s!) on previous pics!!! :-D

That's funny. I'm surprised it takes three such large horses to pull what seems to be a rather small piece of farming equipment. Your entire series of pics following these horses has been wonderful. Beautiful horses.

Hi! TY! :-D that thingie is a plough/plow and plowing is very heavy work! ;-D they get to rest after each turn and when they are done you can literally 'mop 'em up'! ;-D (depending on the weather/temp.) plowing is not done when it's warm. actually Leo was plowing with 2 horses in the morning, but decided it would be better for them to get some help ;-D

Can't rationalize this and I don't think the horses can either. ;D Excellent capture! :)

Great image and interesting thoughts cross my mind when I see this. I just wonder what the horses think when the human has to stop to answer the phone...

this is wonderful. I read where the horse worked farms in a year of lack of water do better that the tractors farms. the tractors pack the earth so the water escapes the land faster that the horse worked farms

"Modern" horse traction? This remember me the day my son discovered a TV that no longer needed a remote control because it had a knob to change channels:) I really like your capture!!The horse is in the middle is trying to hear the Leo's telephone conversation.

Wonderful. The horse in the middle looks to be trying to listen in on the conversation!! Ancient and modern in one pic.
