The first time I try to design the charactor from my mind.So there are lots of problems on it, such as the boots!

the character looks excellent, though I feel the head's a bit out of character.

I find it next to impossible to draw characters without any sort of reference, so I use whatever I can that will give me a better sense of proportion and pose - a wooden artist's mannequin, photos for facial expressions, Poser, etc.
