Description
A view of via Altinate in downtown Padova, once an important Roman road, then it led through one of the city's medieval gates.Todays it's suffering a bit of decadence, after the cinemas closed because of the general crisis of old-fashioned cinemas, and the fact that it was turned into a pedestrian-only street, which killed many of the small shops. Only those closer to the medieval gate and the townhall are resisting, as the one which reflectes the porches across the street. The lady with the blue and gray jacket is Flavia. The jacket was a real bargain, discovered in upstate New York. I dedicate this image to Flavia, whose birthday is tomorrow, Nov. 12th:

Happy Birthday, Flavia! This is a wonderful birthday dedication; it has such a lively vibe to it and I love the colors and the whole urban vibe this has...urban in that distinctly not-Chicago way, and I must say that it's appealing, especially since it's urban with history that goes way, way, way back to those days when people used fulleries and wore snazzy togas and stuff like that. What I really like in this shot is the mix of street stuff and human focus. Gorgeous facades in the most attractive colors. This is such a warm shot: perfect for a birthday!

What is the point of a pedestrian street without shops? All you have left is a sidewalk. I agree with the others, the reflections really fool the eye. Fanstastic image and wonderful birthday gift. Happy birthday Flavia.

outstanding dedication and the "city fathers and or mothers" does not always have the best ideas.fact to matter they suck.they have money here to build expensive parks but can not repair the streets(or makes repairs to parks).the street system here is a joke and a shame outstanding capture

Sorry I've been away so much that I missed her birthday. A great image, it looks like the buildings mirror each other, would be a cool image to do in a color selection with one side of the street done in black and white. Have a nice weekend.
