My name is Tara, and I was born and raised in Washington State.
Â
In 2010 I married Bill (bmac62) and retired ... two of the best choices I ever made! :)
Â
In March, 2013, we sold our home in Washington and went on the road in our RV full time. What a blast! There is so much world out there to see!
After traveling around the West for a few years, we got rid of the motorhome and are now spending winters in deep-south Texas and summers in Washington State. Spring and fall finds us visiting whichever place strikes our fancy at the time!

A touch of mystery here.

Probably. In the conservatory, with crushed castor oil seeds and cinnamon bark.

Yeah...he boiled cigarettes and extracted the nicotine, mixed it in with the sugar. That's my theory and I'm sticking with it. Or maybe he just pulled the hat pin in the ear trick: it mimics the effects of a heart attack unless you do a cranial examination during the autopsy--that's something that (at one time, at least) was only done upon particular request. Okay, now that I've said that I will also say that this is a nicely eerie picture. The selective coloration really heightens the mood. I love the fading colors, the human figure, defiantly in place, despite the effects of weathering. There's a part of me that says what you photographed is actually a ghost: not all ghosts are ectoplasmic thingies that go around rattling chains and sounding like Polish Avant Garde orchestral and choral music (like that "spooky" sounding music in movies like The Exorcist and The Shining.) And now that I think of it: yeah, it's a ghost. It manifests itself as fading paint on weathered wood because it's the only way in which he/it can communicate. There's a story there, definitely: He's waiting.

Yes and the first I tought of was a board with a person for training to kill people. I mean these POP UP boards. But I se no bullet holes around it or in it. :)

Im definitely in agreement with Gun on this one.... a definite hint of mystery keeping one guessing. Really chilling and eerie, yet at the same time intriguing and makes you really wonder about the story behind this. What a wonderfully presented capture, my Friend! I like how you've decided on the colour scheme! Very charming!

Looks like a target! Sure you have not walked into a shooting range.. lol Interesting shot Tara. Rob

Fine sleuthing. And I do know that modern day Cripple Creek makes a lot out of halloween. I am guessing this is part of an old theater set. Do you know about the Butte Theater in downtown Cripple Creek? In the past they've put on shows such as, "The Lost Soul of Cripple Creek", A melodrama adapted from the 1867 Victorian melodrama Lost in London by Watts Phillips. This new adaptation tells the story of a poor Cripple Creek miner who journeys to Denver to reclaim his wife and to have his vengeance on the villain who stole her. It is a thrilling story of honor, revenge, and enduring love, even from beyond the grave. Could be a connection somewhere here...

This is quite wonderful and unexpected!

Hmmmmm - looks like the work of a crazed Poser artist with a few cans of spray paint! LOL! That's really pretty cool, and the selective color really rivits your attention to this fun bit of artwork! A really cool shot, and postwork, Tara!

I noticed this on the big shot and wondered what the story was on this...excellent capture!

Perhaps the spirit of the original owner? I noticed the mortar between the rough hewn log facade. Like a real log cabin. I wonder what the thought process was behind that design feature.

Excellent find! Nice textures and great selection of colors.

I guess a big story :)

Yes! It was Colonel Mustard in the study causing fits of apoplexy with the ghastly looks of his hideous necktie! Remember, children, looks really CAN kill! (I've really GOT to lay off the caffeine) This is nicely mysterious. I love stumbling on to odd things like this. The selective coloring highlights the mystery. Great work.

Perhaps one of the lost souls Bill talks about. Wonderful capture and postwork!!
