Description

Again, I must split this and apologies. Thank you so much, those who read the previous chapter! Part 2 of 2: Everything here was so incredibly beautiful. He'd never seen so much gold, silver and gems in all his life! They wore it, ate from it, drank from it. He thought perhaps this was why they were so selective about letting men into their world. He could see where all of this would be most tempting. To Angus, it was simply delightful. He was just as happy with wooden bowls, homespun, good boots and a nice warm cloak - as long as he had Moira. The dishes and leftovers were cleared away by the servers when they had finished eating. All that was left was a refreshed wine jug and a bowl of fruit. It was time for Eulali to speak her piece. Both Mab and Gwidion looked up to the ceiling, their eyes rolling back in their heads as they began to mutter strange words. Outside the most spectacular clouds and swirls of light began to form and globes of light bearing strange sigils appeared. "They're warding the castle," Moira explained in a whisper to Angus. "Nothin' ta fear - nowt you, anyways." Arcane symbols also appeared just below the windows. Angus was mesmerized by the shifting beauty of the lights and colors. It was only when Eulali stood that he tore his eyes away from it. Eulali apparently wasn't much for wearing a lot of clothes. Something about her reminded him of a bird of prey. An eagle, perhaps. Like the rest of them, she had a very commanding presence. As she began to talk of Mog, he got a taste of just how fierce she was. The sweet smile disappeared and her face grew progressively more full of contempt and hardened as she spoke. It seemed that Mog's dark army had not only been stealing fey children but human children as well, thus breaking the accord with both races. If he didn't sacrifice them to his awful gods or feed off them, he put them to work in his mines. All the other fey were being blamed for Mog's doings by the humans and even each other. It didn't set well with any of the clan heads who'd held to the accord and knew what was going on. This wasn't just about Moira and her family - it was about all of the Fey and humans as well. "So you see Angus, this is what we been dealin' with since he resurfaced," Mab explained, "nowt just with his obsession with Moira." "He's also been slaughterin' animals left an' right," Eulali continued, "pollutin' springs an' ponds; not ta mention collecting certain things, Gwi'...if ya know what I mean. Ritual things. I think e's fixin' ta summon Connor." Gwidion nearly choked on his wine. "Yer jokin' me, eh?" "Nooo joke Gwidion." A slow smile spread across Gwidion's face. "Ooooh tha's too perfect. If that's what e's plannin' I can surely...," he stopped, chuckling to himself and shaking his head. "I can surely throw a big ugly twist in the middle o' that!!! Ooooh, aye!" Mog wasn't the only one who'd studied with Connor Madath-Alluith, the Wolf-King. So had Gwidion - long before Mog ever met him. Connor liked Gwidion. He didn't like Mog. Not at all...yet if Mog summoned Connor's shade, he was bound by his own magic being used on him to assist Mog. It was traditionally something Mog only resorted to when he felt threatened, because he knew good and well Connor hated him for his betrayal. Angus scratched at his forehead, looking bemused. "I do' nae understand why wi' all yer powers combined ya need me. I'm more'n willin' ta help! I mean," he paused looking at each of them in turn, "I ain't nothin' compared ta the likes o' you." See below for remainder....

Eulali stared at him hard for a moment through narrowed eyes. Magnus watched her intently. She suddenly blinked and drew her head back with a start. Those honey colored eyes turned to Magnus and she nodded slightly. "We need ya...an' I regret ta put it this way...fer bait, Angus. As Magnus said: cheese fer the rat. Mog don' know about me, nor does 'e know Magnus is returned. Ne'ertheless he won't come round when any of us are about because 'e knows what we'll do ta 'im. 'Specially since Gwidion half-fried 'im. Neither does 'e know Moira's healed of 'er affliction...." Mab held up her hand to Eulali, interupting her. "He knows ya ain't at the cottage nae more an' haven't been fer some time now - in yer world. He does suspect ye've come here, so we need you an' Moira ta go a'walkin in the moonlight some night soon, 'ere. Nowt yet. We must prepare first and see what we can do wi' the Connor situation. He ain't afraid o' Moira, but 'e is o' the rest of us. Do ya ken now why we need ya, Angus?" "Aye, understood. Thank ye miladies fer explainin'." "Ya can just call us by our names," Magnus said. "Yer part o' the family now. We accept ya. Just don' nae e'er make us sorry we did. Ya take good care o' our little girl; make 'er a happy lass ag'in, an' ever'thin' will be fine." His fist came down on the table, as if to seal his words. "Such is my intent," Angus answered him. "Thank you...Magnus." He half-laughed to himself and heaved a sigh of relief, then bowed his head at Moira's father. "I'm deeply honored." The small twist of a smile appeared at one corner of the elder fey's lips. "Ya should be, lad! Let's drink ta that!" As he lifted his goblet, he leaned toward Angus and winked and grinned. "Trus' me lad, if she's anathin' like 'er Ma, ye'll be one happy man!" "Papa! Yer bad as Gwidion!!" "Magnus! Nae Moi...our son's as bad as 'is father!" ***** Banquet table, chairs and settings are a freebie on RDNA. Love the textures on the wood here! Backdrop is Gothic Construction Set (RDNA). Sigils, etc are done with Obsidian-Dawn brushes. And for Arthur, Gwidion's shirt is Clay Clothing's "Achaius Shirt" available at RMP. It only comes in white, but if you find some silk textures on line you can use those for it or just change the color on it. You can use the slight to medium draped textures, but not the really densely draped ones. I think it's the best 'poet shirt' I've seen...and I look at those. Eulali's outfit is "DMR Lyn's Dark Nights" and actually goes with the figure morph for Moira I'm using - "DMR Lynette". Think I got it all in the "Really Bad Bundle" on DAZ with a bunch of other outfits and props. Great deal!! Thanks for taking the time to read and for your comments, my dears! Enjoy your day!! Rayvn

Love the way you composed that scene, and the story is very absorbing. Nice of them to tell him he's the bait, eh? Angus is one brave, or dumb, lad. It'll be interesting to see where this goes.

I put off reading this until a noon hour break and it gave a good feel to a rather rotten morning. I have said it before but your tales are absorbing and read like the chapters of a well written book. Lovely the way you infuse this scene with a magical protection spell. I see that the fixing of Moira was not so close to the end as I implied. Now Angus is part o' the family.. does that mean he stays in the fae realm?

Dude, what is up with MOG--he is sorely in need of a chill pill! And yes, you do not mess with the children no matter their clan! And the animals--what did they do to him? One often wonders what goes on in the minds of such villains--they just born with a hankering for destruction of just develop a taste for pain and misery...? Whatever the causes, dude must needs be stopped and this brood can do it! Using Angus as bait "Cheese fer dah rat..." ahahahaha...I laugh because it is a sore dark near comedic situation. Angus is just getting to know the folks, breaking bread and now he is bait. Can you imagine the modern day equivalent. Like tryign to relax a bit and smooze the folks and then suddenly having to fight off Al Qaeda or something... Upsides--if Angus can test his mettle and come out shining they surely will not regret "letting him in the family"... GREAT scene...more please

Sorry for the delay, but the holiday took up a lot of time and I wanted to take my time on your posts. Thanks for the info on the shirt. Love the image and the effects used for the warding magic. Perfect expressions on all the characters. The props are very nice and the textures have rendered beautifully. Great and informative chapter. Angus is truly brave, but what else can one do if you have to protect your loved ones. Beautiful image and great read.
