Description

Let's Gekiga In! Gekigangar 3 is the giant mecha namesake of the fictional anime show, "Gekigangar 3." In the (real) anime series, "Martian Successor Nadesico," crew members aboard the Nadesico take an interest in the 100 year old show. The show is drawn like a 70's mecha show, similar to Mazinger Z, Getta Robo, and Voltron. Gekigangar 3 later becomes a more important plot device, and events in Gekigangar episodes often foreshadow events in Nadesico. Episode 14 of Nadesico was shown from the perspective of the Gekigangar team watching Nadesico, and a Gekigangar OVA and OST were produced later. Gekigangar 3 is made of three pilots, Ken, Joe, and Akira, who pilot the Gekiga Jet, Marine, and Tank, and by connecting to each other in various orders, they can form three giant mechas - Gekigangar, Umigangar, and Rikugangar. In the picture is Gekigangar, the most commonly used mech.

Very excellent work and I really like the way you have this set up.Keep up the good work.P.S.It seems like you are missing a layer of color in the cel shading or perhaps you are going for a more 2D look....:)

I used BESM for the celshade, there are 3 color layers, but the darkest is very very dark and only shows up in a few places. The layers are minimal to keep up that 1970s oldskool groove (-:

what is it now? "Gekigangaaaaaaaaaaar punch!" Or something like that? One of my favourite series - Nadesico. Well done.

This is very groovy, nice to see more renders here with cel shading! The only thing I can crit negatively on is the shading of the landscape on the tank background - I reckon it should be cel shaded too. But otherwise this is awesome.

I did try to celshade the background for Tank, but it came out really bad; BESM apparantly doesn't like the bump map. I decided to leave it normal, since the other 2 vehicles had regular backgrounds

Very cool! Good 2D sense. Nadesico is one of my favourite series. Lock at some Nadesico fan art at my site.
