Description

From Stargate: Universe... I found this beautiful model in .obj format on SciFi-meshes.com, and just HAD to play a bit. This thing is massive - even as far as the mesh goes. The polygon count was listed only as "A Lot." It took several minutes to load in PP 2012; I think P8 would have squealed and hid under the bed.... I rendered her at 3360 X 2100 pixels with NO problems at all. I'm lovin' PP 2012 more every time I use it. I was playing with Apophysis this morning while sitting in the service lounge, getting new tires on my minivan. Several Apo renders reminded me of nebulas, so I grabbed one and dropped it behind the ship in Photoshop. The stars were painted on a seperate layer with a large brush spacing, and brush dynamics set to vary the size with pen pressure. I duplicated the original ship layer and resized it to add a couple more ships to my fleet. Here's some stats if you're into that sort of thing: Aurora Class Battleship Information Alteran Dimensions: Length 1300m (4,264ft.) With 400m (1,312ft.) Height 200m (656ft.) Awesome rendering you made here, it looks fenominal...even with one of these ships it would look great, but three...outstanding...need to get one of these...

Awesome render, indeed. I agree with you that this starship model is spectacular, and you did really nice job on the background nebula, as well.

Ummmhmmm, yep that's a fine bit of rendering with pp2012. Went to 200x and it was still looking good with no fuzzies. I can just hear poser8 squealing from under the covers LOL. Good looking painted nebula to background them on.

I would of titled this: "Floating Turds in Ourter Space" lol... I only titled it that to get a laugh out of you and plus, my face was up close to the screen when it came on so at first glance that's the image that came to mine - good looking apaceships - shame you didn't make them look like tires.

Ah...I was going to say a rag-tag fleet like in the original Battle Star Galactica which I remember as a teenager...but then I see that the ships actually match...but perhaps still a rag-tag fleet heading for a place called Earth...if they only knew how screwed up Earth is, LOL...they would probably just pass us by hoping for something better! Nice render! Love the ships and the lighting!

That's a LOT of drones, but I guess planetary invasion requires a certain upscaling doesn't it! Excellent Art HotRod!

Huge Star Trek fan here, and I love well done sci fi images, but this far surpasses 'well done'. Rod, your excellently toned background is superb, especially the motion effect. I've started to really appreciate pro 2012 over 2010 (and totally forget P7!), the differences and improvements make themselves known more and more.

VEry cool model. Excellent render and perfect setting you created. A nearly mile long ship, now that's something. Nice work.

I was...um...offworld during much of Stargate: Universe...but admittedly, I didn't follow the Stargate franchise very much. It's one of those shows I liked but never saw because of other stuff. Having said that, I'll say that I love these ships and I like the fact that they're "new" to me. Even better since a photo I recently saw has put me in the mood to listen to the soundtrack to Serenity, and it's quite an experience listening to that music while looking at this image. I love the visual composition here. Triads of really big ships always look good, and I suspect that my own fictional Nemaeans would be sufficiently satisfied by the brutal lines of these babies (though the Nemaeans might find them a bit too small for comfort. Nemaeans...ya gotta love 'em.) Anyway, enough rambling...this image rocks! I'd love to see more of these from you. I know that I will, and that's the best part.
