Description

Once again, after countless attempts and discards I feel I have made some headway in my never-ending pursuit of creating my “ultimate” terrain with unique features – and one that is global in coverage. I once had the notion that I could use an outside source, such as World Machine, and yes it was good at making basic landforms such as canyons and mountains, but it was local only and the detail was not nearly as sharp as I’d liked it to be. What I have created here are features that are 100% function based, with the exception of the fake stones, of course. It is worth noting that I have used the strata and outcrops shader – one I am often deign to use because of its severe effect, but here it’s attached it to a warp shader with displacements. That makes the otherwise perfectly straight horizontal lines go off in different directions, even in the vertical. Just a little something I discovered on my own. Render time wasn’t at all bad, either: a blistering 1:29:36. I’ve rambled on long enough – thanks for looking in!

This is very unique and original Rich; beautifully created. Looks like there are many points of view on this world. Would like to see more including some close down shots with a few plants and other sets of lighting ...impressive work here!
