Description

This is possibly the most important shrine in Kamakura, and certainly one of the most spectacular. From the top of the steps you can see all the way down Kamakura to the sea, which is breathtaking. The route is marked with red painted torii (the big red gates). I hope I'm not boring people with these yet, haha. Thanks for looking. Iain

Brilliant image, you certainly got good weather,is this normal for November in Japan ? I'm intrigued by the stall on the left, obviously not tourist 'tat', some connection to the Temple perhaps. Did you get a close-up of the girl in hotpants and boots halfway down the steps on the right ;-)

haha sadly not :) The little stall sells things like charms and small wooden plaques to write on and fasten to a unit where people ask their ancestors or family gods for good luck or fortune.

Spectacular - it reminds me of some of the sites I visited in China last year!
