Description

Captured 10/18/09, around 12 noon, at the beautiful Huntington Library, Art Collections, and Botanical Gardens in beautiful San Marino, California. Most cool viewed via ZOOM. I had a nagging feeling I had something Chinese bridgelike languishing in my files when I viewed Denise's posting a few days ago. What I found after extensive research was a plethora (31) of bridge photos from the Chinese garden at the Huntington. So, this is my offering of the genre. Cheerybye, thankx for popping in, and for any and all favs and noncritical comments.

This is such an amazing looking design; there is no doubt about it, only the Chinese know how to make it look like their very own. (well, also the Japanese) Always so neat and pristine in composition and it's truly inspiring to admire their craft, ever so poignant Harry, BB

This is a very attractive garden and beautiful bridge. Lovely capture with wonderful composition, details, and reflections. I like the lines of the bridge, and of the roof of the building behind it. Beautiful shot!

the zoom brings out the fullest range of hues, and the whites as well. A classic shot, capturing not only the sheer lines of Japanese gardens (the bridge, pagoda, and little garden urn, or whatever it's called, in the water); but also of the lush foliage surrounding it---a real Japanese contrast. You've done other Japanese garden shots (one a bit before this, with a sequence from large to detail, where you again show the rich verdant spill of these gardens, contrasted with its simple forms), and they show your natural eye with these environs. The reflections are very rich, surrounded by your deep yellow-rich greens. And your proportions allow the water to "clear" for us in the lower third, while you give us a dash of sky, above, to remind us of the rest of the world. A classic, clean & very rich shot. And serene too.
