Description

Zack, Renn and Tron were visiting with some of the construction crew on the huge central building when they were interrupted by the loud roar of turbine engines from a descending cargo shuttle. Curious about its contents, they hurried over to the newly completed space port just as the shuttle touched down. A balding middle aged man was the first to come out of the cargo entrance. He noticed the three guys and immediately rushed down the ramps and over to where they were standing. Once he got closer, Renn recognized him as one of the members of the interview team for this job. Mr. Steepledorf made good time in the lower gravity of this planet and was soon standing in front of them. Renn introduced him to Zack and Tron. As they made polite conversation, they saw a huge land transport rover come rolling out of the cargo bay. Mr. Steepledorf told them it was a new test model the company had designed specifically for this planet. It was built extra sturdy to survive the many types of uses for this planets developmental needs. Once the shuttle pilot left the rover by Mr. Steepledorf, he entered it and motioned for the rest to follow him. They could hear the roar of the shuttle departing behind them as they drove down the road toward the new complex. Mr. Steepledorf told them there were a lot more items to be shuttled down, but that he wanted to get down quickly so he could coordinate things with the three of them. He drove up to the central complex building so he could review the progress there. He was pleased with the progress being made. The foreman, Jeff Peabody, had operations well in hand. Mr. Steepledorf complimented him on his obvious abilities. He had Jeff join them as they drove over to a specially constructed living pod for Mr. Steepledorf. He was planning on staying on this planet for awhile. They entered the pod and were greeted by a lifelike robot. The robot directed them to a comfortable lounge area where refreshments were neatly layed out. Mr. Steepledorf's pod was double the size of everyone elses. This had been achieved by placing two of the regular pods side-by-side and cutting an entryway between them. This gave him plenty of space to keep a bank of computers and other extra equipment he needed to manage these first phases of the planet's development. Renn asked Jeff if he thought there was going to be any trouble with the construction men. Jeff said that most of the time, the men were well behaved. But that once in awhile, they could get a little rowdy, like when they were on their rest and relaxation breaks. Then, you could expect the unexpected as some of the more high strung men found creative new ways to release their pent up tensions and frustrations of living on this barren planet with the restriction imposed by their contracts. All the construction crewmen had been required to sign on for a minimum of two years with no chance of leaving until their contract expired. There was plenty of potential for some exciting times. Thank you for taking a peek! Your support is greatly appreciated!

i knew you would come out with a sequel rather sooner than later. i must also congratulate you to your writing skills. as english is not my mother tongue it is very important to me when i learn how to set words and phrasing. i also started recently to write biger chapters and more connected to each other. vefore i was afraid for posting long storybits, because i know it takes time to read. but having the pleasure of counting some illustre writers within my visitor-clique.and seeing what the other one does it is most interesting and fun to shape its own skills. this is a fine chapter,i like also the way you describe an engine roaring in the back or the structure of a building etc all these little details add to the complexity of a nice read. i go more sharply to the point (its what i had to do all my life lol) but some additionnal information and bits around the stories would give mine also an impact i guess. i will work on that as well. ps Jacques LeDude nickname "Radar"will come to life very soon- he is of French-Irish breed lol.i am working on a huge conspiracy within the world of Spackovia and Spackopolis and give this character an important role to play.
