Description
HMS Hood fires her main guns in company with HMS Renown during a gunnery exercise...
Hood and Renown operated together several times and actually traded places for duty as Flagship of Force "H" in the Mediteranian at one point... Renown took over for Hood as Flag while she was under-going a refit... Hood resumed Flag when Renown was also pulled for a refit...
Sadly Hood never received the full modernisation she should have had... and was in a sorry state by the time of her encounter with Bismark...

Beautiful job. Those darned blasts from the main armament are a pain to get right. The rest is really great. Keep up the good work! :-)

ty... it was a pain to try nd get those muzzle blasts right... this was about the best i could come up with... and look fairly decent i think... :)

the model of the Renown that i used here was found on google 3d warehouse and converted by me for my own collection... it wasn't that great a model detail wize but made a good background model for this image once i'd mapped it... i can't remember who the artist was or i'd have given proper credit... It's one of several ships that i am considering for my next modeling project... also up for consideration are the Royal Oak, Malaya, and Bizmark...

Renown was a Battleship where as Hood was a Battle Cruiser, build more for speed, her deck armour was thin.. Thus the fatal, sadly flaw! When Bismark fired at her the shells came down onto her and.... Renown was much stronger but still suffered.. Excellent render.. Now, I must stop showing off, I am sorry I read lots of military history books LOL Great work mate Rob

Lol... no worries.. I've been studying military weapons, history, and tactics since I was 13 years old. I had the great pleasure to work in several Military museums conducting tours, creating displays, and dealing with weapons and vehicle identification. Thanks for the Kind comments on my works! :)
