Description

First, thank you all for the love & support you've shown me throughout the year, including your care & concern when heavy things happened in my life; and for being patient when I disappeared & yet you constantly came here to greet me when I returned: Your kindness has meant the world to me & I'm enormously grateful for it, and for all of you. And...for your creativity, joy, humor & dance, for the willingness to be what one writer called "that sublime fool, the artist". "You want to create art?" said a teacher: "Then be willing to dance in the street in the middle of the night & not give a damned what anyone thinks!" For the divine act of sharing that each day: Thank you! Finally, my wishes to all of you for the holidays, whatever they may mean to you, whatever your faith or the leanings of your hearts...and for those who struggle with health each day, or who care for those who do, or who struggle for home & hearth, or have come through loss or pain or struggle: May the hand of care reach out to you & say, "I heard you," and bring joy to you once more. For that & for everything else, I wish great days of love to all! Love & peace to all, Mark (The pic btw is Lake Michigan last December, 'moving towards the light'...)

Oh, my friend, this is just stunning. A gorgeous photograph. The lake is beautiful, but it's the light that makes it something extra special. May your year be filled with light and love, health and balance, connection and solitude, in all the right proportions. My life is a richer thing because of your loving friendship, and I look forward to the coming year.

this picture takes my breath away. This is a fine example of the use of light and superb focus and could easily be used as an example of art in photography for aspiring young (or old) photographers everywhere.

Mark, this is such a lovely capture my friend. Even more than that it is a marvelous dedi, and I very much enjoyed your thoughts on this past year as well as your wishes for everyone to have a blessed holiday season. For some reason this image and your thoughtful words here remind me of an email from my friend Gayle that touched me recently. Please keep doing what your doing my friend, and get well so that we can enjoy you and your wonderful contributions for a long time to come.

A gorgeous photo, Mark, capturing so many layers. A wave crashing, water still and moving, and frozen, coldness and warmth, a vastness beyond comprehension, dangerous and calming, shadows and light, and so much more. All the elements that come into a person's life in one way or another. And your message so abundant with friendship and love, so never ending like the sea itself. You are a gift of joy, hope, and light to all. Have a blessed holiday, my friend. CC

Gobsmacked is the term I'll use here; that light is breathtaking! I love how it paints every little depression in the snow caked on the shore, like frosting on a cake. What a great eye; I'm envious, I'd love to have seen and taken this shot! Well done you!

A favorite of mine...you couldn't have selected a better shot to illustrate your message. The light makes me want to pop my head inside the frame and seek its source. The ice and cold water is representative of life in the world at large. But friendship and a welcoming hand brings the light and thaws the ice. Your words express that friendship and provide that helping hand. Well done Mark. And the warmest of holiday seasons to you too. Take care and will see you when you are ready:)

The image is wonderful. The sun seems to caress the sleeping lake. Your words also are wonderful.. How could we not care as you have always cared? Your thoughful ways always bring a warmth that brightens the day, much like the sun does. I do hope your Christmas and the coming year are full of love and joy. {{{hugs}}}

Easily one of your most sensational photographs of your multitalented career, Mark, replete with fabulous back lighting and perspective to sharply define and illuminate the nooks, crannies, dents, depressions, crevices, and textures of whatever stream, desert, or shore I'm looking at. To quote MrsRatbag, Well Done, You! As for dancing in the street in the middle of the night & not giving a damned what anyone thinks, I've done that so often that it's a wonder I haven't been run over by now.

There is a feeling of Infinite in this image of yours, Mark;) Your lake, has so much mistery and magic...it is so alive. It seems that has a soul!! Your message is infinitely moving, filled with hope, filled with love. They connect perfectly and both spread its inner beauty and such wonderful light with so much intensity all around . I so much agree with all that was already said here, but you know? even so, there are times that words fail, because they never will be enough to tell it all. This, is one of those occasions. I only can say, Thank You Mark, for being there, for being Person you are, the friend you are, for doing the art you do! This, warms the hearts and it is healing:) So, i wish the very best for you! I wish that the new year brings you happiness and EVERYTHING, with much health, peace, love and light in your way because you so much deserve it. Also, for all of your beloved ones.

You know I love this image! It is another one of yours that goes straight past the vocabulary and starts playing a melody on my emotions, on my soul. When I first looked at it, countless other vistas came crowding in, from my memory, from my imagination, from deep inside where images that create strong emotions lollygag around swapping tall stories. They are the vistas that give me the impression that the world stretches out forever and I can reach out, and touch the other side. There is a vastness, an emptiness, that calls out to the wild, wanderlust that will forever send mankind out into the unknown, where ever the current unknown may be. There is the stillness of the scene, delightfully contradicted by the crashing wave and light. The light in your image is a very living thing. I can see its motion as it explores the crevasses and moves across the landscape. It is revealing such beautiful patterns and textures, and there is a great feeling that it is still searching for more. That seems so right, in an image by you. For your light and kindness, finds and celebrates the richness of others. Thank you for your friendship, and for your inspiring and wonderfully diverse art. Joy, good health, love, and light, for you and your loved ones. And an ample supply of rest, restorative laughter, and good times with your friends and loved ones.
