Ok, that "silly face"?
I have NO IDEA where it came from! But it was originally kind of ghoul-ish, so I gave it a big smile! But hey, when I write something for Helle, I get a HUUUUUUGE smile, so it's just right...
As I've said, I can't do original work right now because of my hands; so I took 3 digital paintings, blended them, told them "look festive people, this is for HELLE!" (helanker, here), I bribed them, danced the complete "Firebird Suite" with them, and presto! I came up with this winter-lights thing for one of the dearest friends I've ever had in my life.
You gotta know, Helle was one of the first people I met on RR, and in addition to encouraging me constantly, she was with me through many difficult things, including personal losses & illness, and she never was out of touch throughout; and in addition to my other art, she supported my entry into photography in amazing ways & has given me constant joy & inspiration even when she was sick or struggling. She affirms to me what friendship is all about, and, as frosting to the cake, I love her work! Paintings, drawings, digital manipulations, wonderful primal things, wonderful designs, macros to die for, beautiful 'regular' photography (& on & on)...even weather reports: She's the only person I know on RR who gives daily weather reports! Danish weather! What's not to love about that???
Helle, fancy words only obscure, so point blank: I love you to pieces & I'm incredibly grateful for your friendship, and I wish you tons more birthdays in the greatest health & joy. Happy birthday & lots of love, health & inspiration your way from your crazy little friend in the windy city,

Mark, this is by far one of the most beautiful and creative birthday dedications I've ever seen. Helle is absolutely going to adore this and treasure it for a long time to come. Can't wait to get home to my computer so I can see it on a normal size screen and get a closer look at all of the colorful details. Still the thing that makes this work of art stand out the most for me is knowing the love and care that went into it. The thought that you would put this together for her considering the pain your in really touched my heart.
