.........I wonder how long that dark rock has been sitting there. Has it fallen from the sky, or has the sandstone naturally eroded around it? Hmmmm! this area was populated by Aborigines for 40,000 years before white settlement.
Please zoom.

Wonderful orange colours.

My bet is that it was carried there atop a glacier or iceberg which then melted away as that ice-age receeded. That's how many large rocks were deposited on the flat parts of Alberta, far away from any mountains with similar strata. They are called 'erratics' here. I see it has a younger brother that came along.

Good eye--I love seeing things that make me question their very existence. Man tends to think he's the most important thing on earth--NOT!!

Now that makes me wonder. :)))) Alot of times while my husband and I are setting around talking I will say I wonder and my husband laughs bc he says I do alot of wondering. LOL!!!!! I will wonder about things why they are the way they are, or I will wonder what if etc... LOL!!! I tell him it keeps my mind young. LOL!!!! WOWSER!!! This is really stunning! I LOVE the color of the rocks, it reminds me of some of the things you see in the Southwestern United States. As for how long they've been there, I would go along with the Ice Age theory. Fantastic shot!
