Description

Again, I just couldn't leave well enough alone and had to play around with filters. Captured 10/18/09, at the beautiful Orchid Show held at the beautiful Huntington Botanical Center and Conservatory in beautiful San Marino, California. Taken indoors without a flash. Original on top and collage most cool viewed via ZOOM. I showed this industrious chap before in an earlier posting. The photographers were so engrossed in their tasks and so oblivious to what was going around them at the show that I could have stood there all the live long day, slyly clicking away with complete impunity, and not be noticed by the subjects. Cheerybye, thankx for the peek, and for any and all favs and noncritical comments

Oh, nicely done, Harry! These variations are almost like different genres of comic books or sci-fi films...and I love that serious lens he has on his camera!

These are excellent! Wonderful variations. I like them all but the third one is my favorite. I love the textures and shadows. It makes me think of some children's book illustrations I have seen. Lovely work!

Loook at the size of that lens!!!!!!! I don't use one THAT big at airshows! Do you think its a thing to make up for certain ......lack of 'size' elsewhere? lol Great looking shots though, Merry Christmas to you.. Rob n Rosy

Filters can be so much fun to experiment with. Your 'with variations' pieces are perfect examples. Nicely done...

Again, tough to decide on which ones I like best. The canvas texture i LOVE for sure and the 2nd one has a touch of HDR in there maybe. Love them all :)

yes, with others, very nicely-done variations on a theme. I was going to ask, at the time, if this guy minded being filtered. (It's a fine concept: Someone steps into a booth called "Photoshop," and comes out looking like this. The key is, how to get one's original look back.) (Adobe better have lots of insurance for that concept...) Always love your play with a single image; and you ended the series with a reversal of shadow & light---a fine way to end, leaving the guy glowing for us. The shot itself is a solid capture of a photographer at work, which only an experienced photographer could capture. And nice placement of the "age of orchids" poster behind him, letting the words come out just right. And yeah, he's so involved in shooting, he could care less about you, lol. I think when people photograph so long, they have to build up an immunity to photographers---because, what can they do? Get upset that someone's photographing them when they've spent so many years photographing others? Still, it takes concentration to move in on someone & just shoot. Nice work on the variations, from oil paint (canvas) to some kind of watercolor, to heightening of the yellower & brighter hues. And a fine pov of the photographer...it looks as if he's posing, which I know he's not. Takes experience to capture someone that way. Fine work, Harry, artistically and photographically.
