Description

In our region the old year is represented by an old lady, so I thought this image was a good one, with a bit of manipulation, to represent the old 2011 fading away into 2012. While this hasn't been a good year for Italy, the future looks bleak. Anyway, I want to be optimistic. Thanks for your kind comments.

Sandra, as always you put a lot of thought and effort into your art and it paid off. This was a very powerful way to say goodbye to the new year and hopefully ring in one that is much better. Like yourself I am trying to stay optimistic about the future, but will be very happy to see this year go as it was a rough one for so many.

Have read all about the European problems ... melt down crisis? it's hard to fathom all that, for us here in the 'Lucky Country' - or so they tell us - the jury is still out on that! very appropriate image - wish you more luck next year, Sandra BB

My father once told me this story. When I was younger I was very pessimistic. Then a wise old man told me, "Cheer up, things could be worse." So I cheered up and sure enough things got worse. I to want to be optimistic but if we want better times we will have to fight for them. Wishing you a good 2012, Sandra.

A magnificent work of art and most imformative descriptive! I wish you and Flavia a very Happy and Prosperous New Year! May it be filled with much joy and excitement for the both of you! The state of the world economy is most frightening to everyone that has ears and is able to comprehend the message, I fear! With so many billions of souls on this planet, it is hard to fathom how mother nature can take care of us all, especially the way we treat her back! I see so many indications that she is finally saying enough is enough. Time to exterminate this cancer (we humans) that has invaded the planet once and for all! Yes, it is difficult to be optomistic with all the negative energy permeating this small little blue planet. Perhaps if we keep our fingers crossed, pray to whatever higher power we might happen to believe in and try to do our level best to make this a better planet by our own actions, we just might influence our neighbor, and they might try to do better and influence their neighbor. It is a thought, anyway. Thanks for sharing your wonderful artwork with us! I really appreciate your creative genius! And again, Happy New Year!
