Description

my dad told me that what they used to called the Scot bag pipe players as they march in the army and the ones that fight too. They was mostly fearless and fought hard too. I read a story of one army big piper stated to play as the men was under fire of the Germans. He got up and started to walk down the road playing his bag pipe, b\dust was flying up around him as the bullits hitting around him on the road and the Americans solders that was there yelled at him to get down. He yelled back to say" do you want to live forever?" He got the men up and running towards the Germans who saw them and they broke and ran away. The bag piper lived to play another tune. It a true story. My dad say too long ago that the american Indians was afraid of these guys too as the Africa natives also. anyway that the images i get as I saw this comeing at me. My dad told me a lot about the Scots as they are my people of old. this was going on in a march at Texas Renaissance Festivalr in Texas in Oct. MrsLubner and Flannelman was there too. check out they galleries

Cool capture, Jock, but why do they call them the ladies from hell? I've got tons of bag piper photos from May 2010 in my files that I have yet to show.

I am 1/4 Scottish and I have been watching very old movies about WWII and the bagpipe players would lead the soldiers into battle, even back during their battle with Nordic invaders very candid shot Jock

I once discovered my grandfather's bad pipes in his attic - I was about years old. I was transfixed. He gave them to me and I kept them for years until the bladder went stiff and crumbled. But I always wanted to play them. When I got an opportunity to learn to play an instrument in school, I chose the bag pipes. Alas, they did not offer instruction for bag pipes. I'm sure my parents (and neighbors) were eternally grateful. This is a fabulous shot. The crowd seems to follow him as if he was the pied piper.

For me, one image that represents courage is that of pipers playing into battle. It takes guts to do that, and they did it. But Why "ladies"? Is plural of Lad?
