Description

Happy Birthday my friend and many, many more. We were visiting our son Drew, his wife Keely and our granddaughter Maya. They have orchids hanging in their pool area. This is a Vanda Orchid and it is a genus, in the orchid family (Orchidaceae), which, although not large (about fifty species), is one of the five most horticulturally important orchid genera, because it has some of the most magnificent flowers to be found in the entire orchid family. The roots hang down about four feet and have to be sprayed every other day. Info from Wikipedia. Zoom has much better details. I have tried to grow these but they slowly die on me , I think I don't water them enough some of the more dedicated lads at the orchid society keep them OK but over here they are a greenhouse job. Nice shot and a well grown plant.
