A very Happy, creative, healthy and successful 2012 for all of you on RR!!
Photo taken in the southern part of Namibia in the Namib desert near the town of Aus!!
It looks like HDR, however it’s a normal digital photo.
During the sunset we had an ice cold beer in our hands, which was hardly colder then the temperature of the air, but sunsets in this part of the world are so fantastic and spectacular. They give a warm feeling, but we became only warm again sitting in front of an open fire in the restaurant of our camping / lodge. Yes in June it is winter in Namibia!!
It is in the Namib desert not so far away from the closed area with all the diamonds !!.
It was in this area that there has been a battle between the Germans and the South African army, a lot of leftovers from this period of the WO I can still be found. On internet a lot of info and stories from this period can be found.
Very pleasant for tourists like we is that you can make safely long walks in this area, and due to the time of the year, winter in June on the southern hemisphere, it was during the day nice warm weather, but freezing cold after sunset until the next morning.
The scenery is breath taking in this area of Namibia!!
We made in May / June 2011 a trip through the southern part of Africa ( RSA, Botswana, Zimbabwe and Namibia) .
