Found a new car for myself for 2012
A very Happy, creative, healthy and successful 2012 for all of you on RR!!
Photo taken in the southern part of Namibia, near the town of Aus!!
It is in the Namib desert not so far away from the closed area with all the diamonds !!.
There are a lot of romantic Bonnie and Clyde like stories about this car from the early 19hundreds, but most likely it broke down during a pick-nick trip and the frustrated German owner left it behind.
It was in this area that there has been a battle between the Germans and the South African army, a lot of leftovers from this period of the WO I can still be found. On internet a lot of info and stories from this period can be found.
Very pleasant for tourists like we is that you can make safely long walks in this area, and due to the time of the year, winter in June on the southern hemisphere, it was during the day nice warm weather, but freezing cold after sunset until the next morning.
The scenery is breath taking in this area of Namibia!!
We made in May / June 2011 a trip through the southern part of Africa ( RSA, Botswana, Zimbabwe and Namibia) .
