This has some of the most amazing details! It's kinda like a Frank Herbert novel (one of his good, thick, chewy, dense, rich, succulent novels) with loads of atmosphere and subtle character development; to capture and evoke that with a single shot of a flower is quite a feat! Needless to say, I like that! And congratulations on being Photographer of the Year. That's so cool! Now, I'm wondering if I can talk you into doing a little celebratory dance (with camera in hand) and seeing what kind of spin and jiggle artwork can come out of it: it could be spin and jiggle, the Seattle Technique. But that's a ramble for another comment. And now back to this flower thing: it's gorgeous, and the title makes me think of a novel Phillip K. Dick should have written...a novel asking the question as to whether or not pink petals dream of steam-powered butterflies. Okay...I won't ask where that just came from, but I'll just leave it out there. Oh, and in response to something you asked: Yeah...I've read LOADS of David Brin...and almost met him! I love his stuff!

I agree with Chipka that this image is very evocative...I can almost smell the flowers. You thoroughly deserve the title, your work is so consistently excellent.

Well! I would never have thought of comparing a flower photo to a novel, whether by Frank herbert of Phillip K Dick! Good old Chip! He expands the mind on a daily basis! Mind you, I did have a young suitor once who wrote a lovesick poem to me which began "You as as a drowned sea-witch returned to life.." Hmm. Back to this gorgeous creation. It demonstrates perfectly why you are the WINNER!!! Fabulous, Tara!
