Description

Two of the Scouting Aircraft of V0-1 Scouting Squadron (assigned duty aboard USS Arizona) conduct an over-flight in the early morning in the Pacific. In the 1930's the VO-1 flew O3U Corsair Scouting and Observation aircraft (depicted here), later transitioning to the SOC Seagull and eventually to the King Fisher just prior to the attack on Pearl Harbour. I've remodeled the very low poly O3U smart-props i'd included with my USS Arizona... added a great deal of detail and improved the textures, added full cockpit details and rigged fully working flight surfaces, and scaled them up to fit for M4/V4... this image is a test render to see how the improved models will look... If you look really closely at the Arizona you can just barely make out the crewmen on her decks and at battle-stations... All figures used in this image were made by me... Rendered in Daz 2.3 5 Distant lights no post work

Gee, Navy "Corsair" has a longer lineage than I realised. The model is looking fantastic... I'd be interested in getting this machine, ok, its a floatplane, but I think it is significant since its the type used to look for Amelia Earhart (from USS Colorado)...

The lineage is longer than you might think... the Japanese Navy ordered a sample in the late 1920's which was then copied and produced as the Nakajima E4N, and the German airlines flew them as mail planes before WW2... when the war started they were transfered to Luftwaffe command and flown for the Kreigsmarine as reconaisance aircraft and as coastal patrol and rescue planes... In all there were 10 contries that bought export versions of the O2U/O3U Corsair... The O2U was the first "Corsair"... the O3U was basically just an improved O2U with a stronger engine and some airframe improvements...
