Mount Baker as seen from Mukilteo beach on New Year's Eve afternoon.
It's views like this that make me wonder why I would ever want to travel. This is fifteen minutes from our house, and it's one of two beaches we frequent on a regular basis.
When I look at photos from our trips, I don't wonder at all! There are so many amazing things out there to see. (I mean seriously ... we stayed in a corn silo in Illinois, for pity's sake! How cool is that? Travel broadens your horizons.)
One day I want to see a Danish currant field and an English groyne, among other things.
Then I'll come home and look at our mountains again and wonder why I would ever need to go anywhere else!

It's images like this that make me want to travel, but I still have an awful lot of places in the UK to see that are just as impressive.

This is a fantastic sight Tara beautifully captured. Your weather pattern must have changed since I had been stationed up there, because I don't think I ever saw Mt. Baker from Mukilteo. It always seemed to be cloudy. The amount of snow/ice on the mountain suggests there are many days when the Mountains is hidden from viewc and is getting this coating.
