Description

This is Owachomo Bridge, at Natural Bridge National Monument, in Utah. It is 106 feet (32.31 meters) high, with a 180 foot (54.86 meter) span, 27 feet (8.23 meters) wide and 9 feet (2.74 meters) thick. The top photo was taken from a higher elevation approaching the bridge. The lower was taken from under the bridge thus a reverse look. Photos taken in 1996 and recently scanned. Been at least 15 years since being there myself. As I recall they believe this to be the oldest of the three bridges in the National Monument. It is the longest of the three, matter a fact have heard it called "Long Bridge" by the rangers more often then the Owachomo name given in 1909. Nice presentation with the low road, high road aspects!

What a magnificent sight, Its difficult to get an idea of it's size until you see that some of the bushes below are small trees. The next time you go there stick the camera on self timer and run up on top and wave your arms around. :-) Great shots.
