Description

These are two anthropomorphic pots that I took in friend's house at the end of October. These pots are the hallmark of Caltagirone, a town in province of Catania, known for its handmade pottery. The Arabs, who conquered Sicily in 827, called this town Kalat al Giarun: the hill of the vases. They introduced innovative technologies in the processing of the clay as the glazing. I wish you a wonderful weekend! :) Thanks for the previous comments and favs!

A beautiful photo! Both are terrific examples of the ancient glazing techniques.

Our kitchen cabinets are lined on top with a bunch of mugs like these. They were made by my wife's grandmother, though.

Beautiful pots and capture! It's interesting to see the different styles of painting, the one on the right being more blended than the one on the left. I like the expressions. They look at at the world with a easygoing good humor.
