Description

The ANZAC Cable Stayed Bridge was opened on 3 December 1995 and on Remembrance Day in 1998 was named the ANZAC Bridge to honour the memory of the soldiers of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) who served in World War I. An Australian Flag flies atop the eastern pylon and a New Zealand Flag flies atop the western pylon. The ANZAC Bridge is the longest span cable-stayed bridge in Australia. The bridge is 32.2m (106-ft) wide and the main span is 345m (1,132-ft) long. Total length is 805m. The reinforced concrete pylons are 120m (390-ft) high and support the deck by two planes of stay cables. The bridge spans Johnstons Bay and connects Pyrmont and Glebe Island (part of the suburb of Rozelle). This bridge replaces two previous bridges. The first bridge was constructed as part of a project to move the abattoirs (slaughterhouses) out of Central Sydney, and to construct public abattoirs at Glebe Island. The first bridge was opened in 1862. This picture was taken on 5 December 2011 from the Fish Market area of Blackwattle Bay, Sig..

A lovely capture of this beautiful bridge and the reflections look amazing too. I like it when they put a bit of effort into making bridges.
