Description

Phainopepla nitens. Found near the Tucson Mountains, southern Arizona, USA. This fellow has been hanging out on the electric wire for about three weeks that I know about. He's there probably 6 days out of 7. He didn't mind me stopping to take his picture. I haven't seen a Phainopepla near here before. These regal males love to sit on the highest pinnacle around, so they can be difficult to photograph, both because of distance, and because you end up shooting against the sun half the time.
