Greetings to the people of Earth.
I've always wanted to say that! Now that I did, I can now get on with other things.
I'm a science fiction writer (not famous yet) born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. I've lived in the Czech Republic and Germany, and though I am currently back in Chicago, much of my heart remains in the Czech Republic. Maybe it's the beer. Or the bread. I hope to live in Moscow soon, as a big portion of my heart already resides there. I've had an interest in science fiction since an early age and will probably maintain that interest for the rest of my life. I love SF, and anything else that embraces the spirit of discovery...or anything that chafes against the arbitrary boundaries of "conformity."Â
I discovered Renderosity a couple of years back when I was browsing the internet, looking for cool images to spark my imagination during a period of writer's block. It wasn't a serious block, but I needed something to make me ask the sorts of questions that I always ask before settling down to craft a short story or novella. Since that time, I've written quite a lot and I've begun to post photographs and other visual works that I created here...partially because I love the Renderosity community in general, and partially because the images and text-snippets that I have contributed here are something of an ongoing journal. I'm incredibly lazy when it comes to journal keeping, and so posting picures of particular significance actually helps me to remember the things I want to remembe, without having to eat into my fiction writing time by writing non fiction. Well, at least that's my excuse and I am sticking with it.
I entered into the field of photography totally by accident; I'd always been interested in capturing small stories, but it wasn't until my journey to Europe that I began to consciously seek out tableaus that imply stories in progress. As a result of that, my writing is growing in unexpected directions, and I look forward to becoming more and more active here, and in other artistic/publishing fields.

Fascinating...the progression of life...

This instantly captivated me, the man-made weave, the seedling, and the fascinating critter that is wandering the strange terrain. I'm always amazed at how the natural world finds ways of reminding us that we aren't separate from it, but a part of the world and it's always on the move.

I was wondering where you were going with this and then the story tolded it's tale. Great picture.

Jareth saw his moment of escape, took it, and ran as fast as he could before anyone could sound the alarm. He already had his shirt half off by the time he hit the edge of the yard. Leaping across the low fence, its pain generators blessedly inactive for the moment, he wiggled his arms out of the sleeves as he ran, dropping the offensive garment the second he could. Being shirtless in the cold was far better than being marked by that hated blue garment as being beh dozoran ... unattended property. He knew where he could steal a green jacket, and hoped his strength didn't give out before he got there. Too young to wear yellow without being questioned, he would settle for the pale green that announced his status as serbech ... provisionally free pending puberty. For now, and until he got out of the City, it would have to do. ...................... You're inspiring, my friend! Did I mention how attractive the woodlouse is? VERY nice, very shiny. :)

great shot!!

WOW! This is great! I love the ultra sharp macro job you've done here. There is a poignant quality to this as well as being strangely beautiful and nicely incongruous. I don't tend to think of woodlice and baby plants living in man made objects. I keep imagining them as two characters in a play that is set in an old shirt in a junk yard. That's what's inspiring me now. Wonderful work.

We called them rolypolies where I grew up. Great work!

That shirt was obviously a life-support system of sorts!

Love the story that comes with the shot! Always so interesting to read your words. I shot a woodlouse on a piece of newspaper I found in the woods in England a long time ago and it reminds me of this shot. Good luck with your job's hunt! :)

When the sun is at its zenith...the plant casts welcoming shade on the armor platted woodlouse allowing him to dream and scheme...if only we could read his thoughts. Do woodlice have thoughts??? :)

Small intimate details in this Chip; the seedling fascinates me!

That is indeed a superb shot of both the woodlouse and the tiny plant. SO well done. I Hope you will find an ideal, stressless work soon, my friend.
