Description


Had to fill in with flash in photoshop in order to give you a peek inside this old yarn market. This was built early in the 1600's in Dunster, Somerset, UK for the locals to sell their broadcloths and homespun yarns.

Fascinating. This was the modern day fabric shop of 400 years ago than...fewer merchants, fewer people...there's something to be said for that. Any idea about the use for upstairs?

The stock or weigh house with weigh beam was first recorded in the mid 16th century when it was let for 26s 8d to the borough bailiff. Charges of ½ d to 3d were charged for weighing yarn although the bailiff was charged with extortion for charging foreigners‘ higher rates. So it would appear that it was lived in by the Bailiff
