Description

OH NO!!! Not again. This is what I thought, when I discovered this visitor this afternoon. A RAT ! It seems we will have rats every this time of the year. I know it is because we feed the birds. But we will set up a trap tomorrow. It must have arrived today. It wont stay for long. Sorry but I try to not have warm feelings for rats. Hope you are having a beautiful day/evening. Weather has been Same as yesterday, Grey and boring but mote windy. As usual, Thank you for your always very welcome viewing, commenting and fav to my previous post. :-)

No, a rodent that one doesn't likes - no rats in Alberta - they have to have a passport to come from other provinces :) Nevertheless, it made for an excellent shot (-31C here now)

A pretty coat, but something to get rid of, certainly! They'd be okay if they stayed outside in the woods! LOL!

Great capture of him Helle, and you are right about what a magnet the feeders can sometimes be for other critters

An old Jimmy Cagney movie line comes to mind, "Mmmmmm, you dirty double-crossin' rat." Good pic Helle...I suppose they have to eat too...but not in your backyard:)

What a nuisance! It doesn't look very big..we have rats in the town centre the size of small cats.

Dear Helle, try to get rid of the rat but please also stop feeding birds. The winter is there to take away the ill ones and make place for a healthy or more intelligent population that is able to handle changing weather and climate issues. Sorry but I think this way is nature.

Lol!!! Great shot of the 'dirty rat'. I agree with awjay, two legged rats in government. Please don't stop feeding the birds. As that guy says it may be natures way but we have done so much to destroy the other living creatures that I think its a god thing to keep feeding all you can to keep them surviving. Thank you for all your support in my absence, means alot to me:-)

Yes that is one of the side effects of feeding the birds but the birds need their feed. We get the odd rat too but our cat makes short work of them. He doesn't eat them though and he leaves the birds alone too these days though he likes to watch them, but is far too lazy to make the effort of catching them thank goodness.

No one has much use for them, and like Indods says, we have none in Alberta, but it take continued vigilance along the borders. Fortunately rats tend to move into new areas infrequently, so they are easily discovered and wiped out.
