Orion is my guardian constellation, or so it seems when it hovers in the skies about the house! Great nightsky image~ Yes, we should be out there by now... dreams opened up and all things seemed possible in the '60's. Politics kept us grounded~ =(

This is a fantastic capture Kim. I think the best proof that there is intelligent life out there is that they haven't tried to contact us yet. Mankind is still far to busy trying to invent ways of mutual mass destruction to seriously consider interacting with other world visitors.

Sometimes, the better thing to do is get out of city and observe the night sky! Very cool capture!

Beautiful photo. The red is from lights, I assume. And, Orion is the oldest constellation, having its roots way before written history. The ancient Egyptians called it Sahu (Osiris, in Greek, Orion in modern languages), the god of resurrection. There is something very mysterious with Orion as the constellation is associated with cycles of detruction and rebirth and the great pyramid of Giza in Egypt. Orion figures in all ancient religions, from the far east to Europe to the Amer-Indians. Every time I see Orion, I see it as an old friend, but awe-inspiring for its association to earthly history. Keep up the good work! :-)

Even in the thumbnail Orion's Belt stands out and is instantly recognizable! And yes, I wonder all the time, whenever I look up, which is often.

A wonderful image, and indeed I wonder what could we discover, high? In any case, I'll say 'hi'! ;-) Oh, and, "sorry" I can not give you a kiss because vertigo is making me prevent this.
