Description

Just a little something from the archives tonight. I took this several years ago at the old Watkins Woolen Mill, now a museum and historic site. I liked the light pouring in from the windows. I played around a bit with Virtual Photographer, and a couple Photoshop filters. My presence will probably be a bit spotty for a few days. Earlier today, we had to rush my mother-in-law to the hospital. They diagnosed her as having pneumonia - not good at any time, but especially for a lung cancer patient. They did a CAT scan, and found one of the tumors has gotten bigger. At one point we almost lost her. Her blood pressure dropped suddenly, and she stopped breathing for about 15 seconds. They were able to pull her out of it, but honestly I don't think she has much time left. She's resting fairly well now, they have her in a monitored room, and she is able to speak, and recognize everyone. We finally got home about 9:45. We'll probably be at the hospital most of the day on Sunday. I'll try to keep up with the galleries (the hospital has WiFi), but if I'm not around much, I just wanted you all to know why. I'm working on the next page in the TNA series, but it might be a bit slow for a while. Thanks to you all for stopping by, and for any comments you care to leave. But mostly, thank you for being my friends.

America's only surviving 1860's woolen mill. I've heard of this place for years and have never visited. Your postwork takes this image into the realm of a smart magazine illustration...I love it. Great light! Will be pulling for your mother-in-law...

I'm sorry to hear about Jo's mom. I know how rough this is on both of you. Give Jo a hug from me, and tell her I'm thinking about you all and sending loads of love. (And hugs to you as well, my dear.) Beautiful photograph ... the light really is delicious!

This is a lovely work Rod. The way the red light flows into this room gives an almost sepia effect which totally fits the image. The long, off-center perspective gives another bit of drama. Sorry to hear of your mother in law. Pneumonia is so hard on a ragged lung. Thank you for taking time to comment on my work under your tyring circumstances.

I've thought a lot about my Mom today. She's been gone 10 almost 11 years and it was lung cancer that got her. when she told me she had it, she told me expectations of living was only a year. My Mom was so tough, I believed she was immortal... she made it a year and a half after diagnoses. She died at 74... She would of turned 85 today - I still can't believe she's gone. I hope you get and give as much as possible in these times that you still have with her... one of the most things I miss about my Mom is her Recipes - she was a great cook... you might think of asking for some recipes.

I remember this image. I really liked it in the original form. Sorry to hear about your mother-in-law. Please tell Jo she is in our thoughts. The strange thing is that MY mother-in-law is recovering from pneumonia right now. She is out of the hospital and at home. She is 80 but very spry and in pretty good shape for her age. But the recovery is still going slowly. I made French onion soup and we picked up some deli sandwiches on the way to her house yesterday and we spent the day with her and her husband. Well, I hope for the best for Jo's mom. Warm regards.

Really beautiful photo. The composition and light/coloring are excellent. The angles really draw you in and I love all the old tools hanging on the wall. I'm sorry to hear about your family troubles. In the worst case scenario I hope she is pain free and peaceful. It's very hard to watch someone in decline and I wish you fortitude and a clear mind. Be well.

A beautiful mellow feel in this photo and the colouring looks so warm and inviting. Very nicely done. I'm really sorry to hear about your Mother-in-law, it will be so hard for her to battle both the pneumonia and the lung cancer. My thoughts are with you and your wife and family. Don't worry about commenting, that can wait.
