Description

Low poly rose petals with Catmull-Clark subsurf modifier, tweaked and positioned by hand. Each petal has 16 faces. Textures made in Genetica. Subsurface scattering on the rose petals. A painstaking job, but great fun to do.

Thank you all so much. I really wanted to put dewdrops on the rose, but when I joined the petals to make a single objects unexpected things happened, so my plan to distribute them with a particle system didn't work.

Wow. I've tried to make a sort of rose shape before and totally failed. This is lovely. Forget the tools, this took a real understanding of what you were making. Though, yeah, I've always had great results with Blender Internal. And I've been doing some cool stuff with cloth today. I should be trying my own hand at messing with particles shortly. I hope I'm a fraction as successful with them as you've been.
