Description

Captured 1/2/12, early in the morn, while on my way to the park for my main foto shoot. Extremely cool viewed via ZOOM. I would have loved to have titled this, A Foggy Day in Londontown, but it wasn't Londontown, nor even the UK. It was just three quarters of a mile from my honorable So Calif habitat. The fence on the left borders a schoolyard. Anyway, I was the only foot traffic in the area at that time that I know of, which contributed even more to the eerie ambience. Sayonara, thanks for popping in, and for any and all favs and noncritical comments.

Eerie indeed; the atmosphere is aided in large part by that spookily craggy tree on the right. I can imagine your footsteps, and all the other ambient city sounds, muffled by the fog. A wonderful capture that brings us right there with you, Harry!

You captured the fog magnificently here, Harry. The eye is drawn right down the long sidewalk.

Very artsy Harry. I really like this. Photos like this always make me think of, The fog comes on little cat feet. It sits looking over harbor and city on silent haunches and then moves on. Carl Sandburg

Ah but Harry, as indeed Rosy found out herself Londontown (or rather The City Of London), starts right in the centre of what most people call 'London'.. But London is made up of lots towns grown big so they now have joined up.. History lesson over lol Another super atmospheric picture, stretching, not very far! lol Good shot mate, well taken.. Rob

That tree seems to be dancing in the fog, interesting shape to its trunk.

I have always liked a foggy and mystical, moody scenery and this is no exception, great result ... BB

Everything about this photo is incredible. The fence line along the sidewalk and those trees! And of course the fog ... SMASHING photo! I LOVE!

agree with the above (tizjezzme): smashing. The fog, of course, is the key player; but your perspective, the fall of the lines back into space, and the wonderful obliterating clump of fog about 3/4 of the way back---obliterating the sidewalk & fence & part of the trees---are what bring the fog to light. That, and those wonderfully twisted trees. A terrific piece of seeing. You know, after reading your comment in my last piece (I hope everyone read it), re. your extensive background in technical illustration, I can understand all the better your keen eye for line & shape & texture & hue in everything you see. I'm most impressed with your background. (And you have a lot more tools than I ever had, as I never sustained the intense concentration required for fine drafting & illustration. I'm impressed with your background.) The cleanness of design here shows your eye for design & shape & form. It's a wonderful contrast of fence with those angular skeletal trees; and of obliterating fog with the clarity of your shadows. Minimal, but full. A terrific shot, Harry.
