Description

The Wunderkammer (wonder-room) or Cabinet of Wonder was a cabinet of curiosities collecting curios from around the world that was fashionable from the Renaissance to the Victorian times. The the objects included belonged to natural history (sometimes faked), geology, ethnography, archaeology, religious or historical relics, works of art, and antiquities. Besides the most famous and best documented cabinets of rulers and aristocrats, members of the merchant class and early practitioners of science in Europe also formed collections that were precursors to museums. The first collections hosted by the National Museum in Prague were collected by a group of patriotic aristocrats. As you can see in this photo, a rhino is exotic enough to still inspire a sense of wonder in the girl, while her younger brother sports a man about town's ennui. Thanks for your kind comments.

I am impressed at how realistic and imposing this rhino looks even in the unnatural environment of a museum.

The young man seems to be looking directly at you. This could be a bit startling if you were not expecting it. A really nice image.
