Description

Captured 1/30/12, early AM, not far from my delightful domicile. Most ZOOM worthy. So, after years of futile search for the elusive fungi, I was startled to come upon this growth in my area, apparently a common mushroom or toadstool - no matter, as long as it was something to post on Renderosity. Since fungi are a virtual anomaly around here, this was the only one I found on the vast lawn, like finding a needle in a haystack. As for its specific scientific identity, I'll leave that up to Andrea, an expert on that species of botany. Toodles, thankx for coming aboard, and for any and all favs and noncritical comments.

It does look like a donut. Just do not eat it! I know someome who thought they could identify mushrooms, only to discover, after eating one, he could not! Needless to say, he spent some uncomfortable time in the local ER. Cool find and photo Harry.

I don't know what it is, but it's a big'un, Harry. I echo the directive not to eat it, though. Excellent shot, and what a cool morphology it's presented you with!

I like the doughnut POV and I have not seen anything like it. No idea what it is called.

Can't say without seeing the underneath and smelling it, Harry! Fungi like it cool and damp..not much of that where you live I suppose.
