Description

Bill and Denise already posted pictures of our sunset the other night, but I had to add my two cents worth. Some of you might wonder what the big deal is with this particular sunset, especially if you live in a dry climate. Since it rains often here, the air doesn't contain much dust or pollution, which is what gives you those spectacular sunsets. When the sun goes down in the Pacific Northwest it just gets dark, with no fanfare and no color. If it's a cloudy day and the sky is gray, it gets progressively darker gray, and then it's night. On a clear day when the sky is blue, it gets darker and darker blue, and then it's night. Very seldom do we see red/orange/yellow in the sky. So this was a special occasion, which is why we were all gaga over it! This is a six-shot panorama, auto-stitched in CS5 and postworked within an inch of its life. :D Zoooooooooommm!

Not only do your words describe what usually happens in the Northwest as night falls but as I scroll from left to right...which moves the viewers' direction from west to northwest...your image grows progressively darker. That's cool. As for your postwork...I love the fading hues and softness of the overall image, once again allowing us to feel the approach of night.

Congratulations Tara, on your amazing sunset. What a great colors and view. Asking myself if this is a shot from the city Olympia, as one of or daughters lives in Lacey, but that beside. It's a fantastic six-pack here ;-)
