Description

Captured 1/29/12, early afternoon, at the beautiful Rancho Los Alamitos Historic Ranch and Gardens in beautiful Long Beach, California. A ZOOM gives keen detail. I don't know what kind of tree this is, but with that collection of burls, boils, carbuncles, clumps, edemas, knots, nevuses, nodules, papillomas, pustules, tumors, warts, wens, and/or sebaceous cysts, this antique arboreal specimen should see a dermatologist, but I suppose it's too late for that now. The guy must be a zillion years old. An oxymoron, I know, but it's beautiful in its ugliness. Arrivederci, thankx for coming by, and for any and all favs and noncritical comments.

It truly is! This is a tree that should be cherished.. Its seen more life than we can possibly dream of.. I know it can't tell stories of its life, what its seen etc.. But, that should not matter! It deserves to be preserved and looked after in ever way! Well shown Harry.. Rob

This tree has such character and you have captured it beautifully. Amazing that it could get so many burls and carbunkles etc. I'm glad they haven't chopped it down.

This is a great collage Harry and a bundle of burls for sure. You hit it on the head with "beautiful in its ugliness". Very unique!

Very interesting tree! It reminds me of a snake that has just swallowed lunch. Though it looks like he has had a meal of many courses. Excellent images and fantastic tree!

Amazing tree; I don't know what kind it is either. But I'll bet it's ancient. Great shots Harry, showing us all of its splendor.
