Description
If you haven't looked at my gallery a year ago, I apologize for the WTF of this image--it's part of an ongoing web comic of mine that is a post-apocalyptic gay romance with giant mutant insects..you know, the usual stuff. Anyway, I promise I'll keep doing random poser fantasy images along with the comic.:)
--------------
Anyway, this is Rain's girlfriend Fern Ivarsson; her parents buy horses from the "farm" and he's known her since she was 14 and he was 15. If you look close you can see her little pointed Mer ears, her nails have been shaped to look like regular long nails. She's driven her own car up to the farm from Olympia to break up with him; or at least tell him she has been accepted to New Stanford University Business School in the Republic of California (the Azali bombed the old University flat a century ago), and that she will be leaving in two weeks, once she finishes up her current modelling job.
At least she knows he'll be happy that she is going to college--he told her once that she was "too smart to be a model", which annoyed her a lot, but she could see what happened to the older models, and she wanted a career after 30. She still loves Rain, but he's so..."manage-y". She had him come once to a photoshoot and it was a disaster. Rain disliked the dressers, though she explained to him it was faster than having her try to get the clothes on and off herself; he thought the photographers were disrespectful to her; and some of the other girls were not being shy about their drug use. Fern told Rain that such behavior was "really unprofessional" but she was embarassed. Worst of all, Angelo Barbieri was there, the head of the top model agency in Canada, looking for new faces; and when Barbieri came over to Fern with a contract, Rain reached over and took it out of her hand and said "She can't sign this". Rain then hustled her into the hallway and said "You can't sign that. He's a total alcoholic, he probably won't last six months."
Fern shrieked: "How do you know that??"
Rain tapped his nose."I can smell him. He's in bad shape, he has that weird sugary diabetic smell."
When Fern went back to Barbieri to apologize, Barbieri just said "You need to get rid of your manager," and when Fern glowered and said:
"He's my boyfriend"
Barbieri said, "You need to get rid of your hick boyfriend."
But Fern *didn't* sign the contract, and two months later Barbieri was in a clinic, leaving his agency and his models high and dry. And Fern was annoyed again that Rain was right.
Now she was standing here next to the corral that Tarnish had escaped from last summer, and she wished she hadn't worn a fancy dress and high heels; she though dressing up would make her braver; but now her feet hurt, and it was hard to drive in heels. When Rain and Fern went out, Rain always drove--he said it was because he had been driving vehicles since he was 14, and he wanted her to be safe. Fern thinks it's time now for her to drive herself. So she decides to leave the Stanford paperwork in the car, and staggers up towards the house, trying not to turn her ankle on the driveway pebbles.
This is Saturday, May 4th 2402, same day Bryan won the Allen prize and Rain went bug hunting.
----
The laundry you can see hung up on the roof is Aunt Marian's way of protesting "no electricity" in the house-- Rain's grandfather,Peter Oakmede thinks it's a waste of money to wire the "castle"(though the horse barns are fully climate-controlled and there are modern washing machines there that Marian uses). If Marian knows visitors are coming she will hang up the wash just to peeve Peter, because he loves to present a grand appearance to impress clients. (The front door opens into a Great Room lined with deer heads and a huge fireplace, like a medieval castle. Marian says all it needs are a few rats.)

Yay! This is a great come-back image. I've been following a few British photographers, and this reminds me a lot of their photos. The fields and the road work very well. I really like the pensiveness of her expression, and her clothes. The twin background stores are just wonderful. Even her nails came out perfectly. The only thing that puzzles me is the car door. It looks like we're seeing the inside, which means I'd expect her hand to be on the opposite side. But then, I could imagine it being the outside, with a different door handle than I'd expect and a hinge at the rear. It's such an original design (which is very cool- it looks like no other sci fi vehicle I've ever seen) that I don't know whether to pay attention to her hand or the design as an indicator of what's going on. Either way, it's really great. You know, someone was talking recently about textures that look painted, and they were told directly that postwork would be better. But I've seen a few images at CG Society that were 3d (with development images posted) that used stylized textures to great advantage. You might try using that for some of your pieces elements, like the ones that you have to use a lot and are structurally complicated. Which you probably already do, and I should just stop going on now. Great work!

The door hinges out really oddly, it's sort of petal-shaped and angles up a little, the front glass sweeps around the side ..it's kind of an ugly car, which is why I cropped it ;) The three little finger grooves are where the latch release is, it leaves room for claws as well as long nails. The handle is just to pull it closed manually, though it can be set to close automatically if needed. Oh, the white lint on the hill is supposed to be sheep. ;)
