Description

Hi friends, I would continue the saxonian series. Dresden again, Saxony`s capital. This here is Dresdens finest suburb, Loschwitz, situated at the steep right side of the river elbe and on top of the plateau. Loschwitz is the place for the upper crust for more than 100 years when all the fine old villas and mansions were built. To live here was very special, in the old days and in the times of communism, too. The rich and famous lived here, and in communistic times the upper class of the communistic party, too. For example MANFRED von ARDENNE, one of the most famous scientists and constructor Germany had. Ardenne was physician, a pioneer of german electricty, radio- and TV- construction in the 1930ies and 1940ies. After WW II Ardenne emigrated to the Soviet Union and was co-constructor of Stalin`s atomic bomb. Later, back in the GDR, he run an own private science center here in Loschwitz and was member of the polit-bureau, the government of the GDR. Ardenne held more then 600 patents at the end of his life.. Another famous resident here was the Nazi-general PAULUS, the commander of Stalingrad, who was arrested by the red army after the battle in 1943 and was re-educated. He was sent back to Germany by the soviets in 1955 and settled down in the communistic part of germany, here on top of the hill. Friends, hope you like this pic and short story. Thanks for your comments for my last pics and a special THANKS for the favorites. Your comments are always appreciated. Goodbye for the moment and a happy sunday, whereever you live. billcody, Berlin

Very colorful, crisp picture. Some of the houses look like mini castles. What is the green structure in the middle? Thanks for sharing the history.

Hi Wolfgang, you made me curious to visit your gallery. And to my surprise, I enjoyed many of your beautiful photos. All with a wonderful atmosphere, beautiful architecture, and now here this beautiful landscape, with its villa's. I(we) love Germany. For my health problems we often were traveling through your country. Enjoyed the beautiful churches, the organs, the lakes and the beautiful landscape. Ich liebe die Deutsche Sprache. Und genieße beispielsweise die Kantaten J.S. Bach sehr. Wünscht euch eine recht guter Sonntag, von Süden der Niederlande. Jacomina.
