Description

I painted this with acrylics on canvas 24x36 inches just finish it yesterday. if you see some wrong please tell me wonder why i made the heads transparent. they here today gone tomorrow lol some one ask if they was ghosts and why just see thought parts of them and not thought other parts? transparent heads and it just halve of the heads is transparent and the left parts of the arms is transparent. The Cajun way of life around is die out as the old timers is die. they not gone yet so that why you see thought parts and other parts you do not see thought. The Cajun music is strong now but no tell in the next 10 to 20 years as the culture language and way of life is fading. thank you

Yes, Jocko, I confess, I'm still in love with your talent as a watercolorist! So much taken from life, a moment of Cajun life, which I thank you!

Great painting! All cultures go away, eventually. But they live on in unremarked holdovers in our lives, and in the imaginations of those who view what they left behind. Those who never met a Cajun, you give 'em something to imagine about those folks.

This is a wonderful and beautifully done painting, Jock! You are a man of many talents! Good to see the old customs and cultures being preserved through art. I've never lived in the south - been there a few times when I was in the military. But I really love Cajun food....MMMMM-mmm!

A good painting.I like how you show the idea that the Cajun ways are fading away by having parts of the dancer fade also.Nice metaphor.

Oh yes, shades of that great movie, Southern Comfort, in this cool rendering, Jock, although I don't know what you mean by transparency in this image. And what is that ladder thing hanging down between the heads?

Don't think that way of life and the music will ever fade away. It's been here for hundred years and more, born of a way of life and a music that came before it. Once back in the 60s I heard people say that country music was on it's way out. Rock and psychedelic music, Beatles and Elvis, had changed everything. And yet, CM lives on as does Bluegrass and the Blues. Your painting is wonderful. I think I recognize your guitar player back there. Maybe like the Bone Man, he will keep appearing even without you knowing it. :-)

Great idea! That's life. You're here one day and the next you're not. Excellent way to express in painting!
