Winter, short cut back home (for Sharky) We have real winter in Holland, however in the meantime the winter is over and today for the first time again, temperatures well above freezing point and “warm rain”. The ice on the canals and lakes are now to dangerous to walk over, however last Friday it was different near Warmond. This guy on this scooter (no helmet) is making a short cut back home and saves him a couple of miles over the roads …………… and it was cold too!! Yes Errol ( Sharky) unknown in your area, but it is very safe on the ice after a week of severe freezing. You could drive here with your motor bike very nicely as long as you keep your feet very close to the ice floor, just in case you need more stability your feet are there to assists you in getting and keeping the balance and to make it possible to stand still.!!! A normal bike is more difficult because you need to peddle and to get on and off is a lot more difficult on a male-bike!! LOL !!! The water in these lakes is less than a meter deep, however a lake adjacent to this one has a depth of about 40 to 60 meters, it has been used in the past (more the 30 years ago) for the supply of sand for constructing the infra structure in the area’. The ice on deeper water takes longer to get thick enough to walk over. Thanks for viewing and your very nice comments, Have a very nice week Henk

It was indeed "an ice week"... a meeting in the lab in Amsterdam was even cancelled because many attendants were out skating... Now, the ice (rain transforming into) is on the roads... not so funny... :~)
