Description

Walking north on Dearborn in Chicago last fall, we passed the Inland Steel Building. In the lobby of that building is a sculpture by Richard Lippord entitled Radiant One. As I walked by the building I saw the sculpture, and I also notice Bill's reflection in the huge plate-glass window. He was taking a picture of who-knows-what, and I quickly moved so that his camera appeared to be at the center of the star. Then I continued taking pictures as he walked away. These are all SINGLE IMAGES, with no fancy postwork. As far as I can recall, Bill was behind me as I faced the building. Notice in the first two shots that the sculpture is not blocked by Bill's body. That's his reflection in the window. This was just for fun, but I loved the way the series looked when I got into it. Do check out the link (above) ... there are some really fine photographs of the sculpture. ZOOM

Superb series made more so because you had to see the sculpture and then see Bill and then imagine the two together and then move into position. And all in, what, ten seconds?

'A star is born' ;) I wonder what Bill thinks of it? it was a split-second decision and what a stroke of luck, it's just one of those things that happen, when you least expect it! Genius ... BB

OK - I'm glad you explained this one, Tara.... I was sitting here rubbing my eyes, and trying to get my head wrapped around what was happening! For a moment, I thought Bill had stumbled onto some new method of photographic spell-casting, and had somehow invoked some type of sparklythinamajig from his camera..... And he says he had no idea.... Sure, Bill...... LOL! VERY cool, Tara!
