My name is Tara, and I was born and raised in Washington State.
Â
In 2010 I married Bill (bmac62) and retired ... two of the best choices I ever made! :)
Â
In March, 2013, we sold our home in Washington and went on the road in our RV full time. What a blast! There is so much world out there to see!
After traveling around the West for a few years, we got rid of the motorhome and are now spending winters in deep-south Texas and summers in Washington State. Spring and fall finds us visiting whichever place strikes our fancy at the time!

Interesting picture Tara - and it is blue sky, wow! I have never seen it while I was stationed up there, but then we had different priorities, taking pictures, and taking pictures of cemetery entrances was not on our list of things to do lol!

Beautiful Image,

Not only an interesting subject but the late afternoon light is spectacular. I just knew as we pulled up to this place that our cameras were going to get a real workout. Well done!

Yes Tara they are common in the UK but not many are as posh as this one, most are timber framed often with a thatched roof I will try to find a shot of one.

What we lack in age and tradition we more than make up in good looks. This is a very handsome example of a lychgate. Color and shape have it all over the English versions. Wonderful capture.

We haven't any so ornate here in England but, as you say, we do have a lot of them! This is a lovely shot Tara.

I like the detail in the stone and the gate. Thanks for the history lesson. Now I have more information in my head that might come up in a conversation.

How cool, I've heard the term but never knew what it actually was. Thanks for the information! And this image is stunning, there's a glow about it that really makes it jump off the screen. Clearly your work, and marvelously beautiful!

Yes! We have one or two about Stamford.... Well, every church has one.. lol I 'Think', the main gate was for carts, hurse's,(have I spelt that right lol) cars etc to go through AND the Lynchgate was for people just on foot.. Simple really.. Great shot Tara, well done.. Rob PS, I'm more than likely WAY wrong! lol
