Description

It would be the women's job to keep tabs on the troop movements and warn the battle-leaders of those things of which they might not be aware. Eulali was their 'field seer' but Damara, Moira and Mab were the 'away seers' - Mab and Moira with the second sight and Damara with her crystal ball. Damara and Mab had warded the ball against any false or intruding visions or transmissions and left an etheric channel open for Magnus, Alduin and Gwidion for communication between them. Gwidion had gone back home to dispatch Gorm to the battle and make certain things were secure there. He left Althea, Gorm's mate in charge - and with a relatively young brood of offspring around her, she'd probably be more aggressive in defending the place than Gorm. Gwidion didn't expect any problems there, though. Mog would know they were all enjoined against his army and concentrate on getting rid of them, rather than destroying their home. Gwidion tested out the connection to Mort Augur, hoping to get hold of his mother. He got Ursala, instead. "They're all sleepin'. Your mother an' Damara are exhausted, between all Damara's done an' Mab tryin' ta keep Brianna calm. Tis just me, I'm afraid." "Not a problem, dear Lady. Damara really has been a big help hasn't she? She came through for us with 'er charms an' such, where I failed. By the bye, it seems Mog finally summoned Connor...ta protect 'im!" Gwidion laughed. "That's like askin' a thief ta watch yer valuables! Connor connected with me, as 'e said would when it happened." Ursala found this revelation tremendously humorous. "Well, I suppose we're lucky Mog's such an idiot sometimes! Aye, that she has. I wouldn't feel guilty about it, Gwidion. Ya had a lot o' other things on your platter. Damara didn't. That lass wants ta redeem 'erself so much ya can smell on 'er. Well, I can. We've had ta keep Brianna pretty well sedated all the time." Gwidion rolled his eyes. "The battle ain't even joined yet...but I understand. There's more at stake than just Alduin this time. Too bad we di' nae get a chance ta train Angus proper but I think he'll be fine. He's a wise one for 'is age, an' havin' the Red Wolf Spirit in 'im helps." "Ohhh, ye can bet Beren'll have 'is back ever' step o' the way. He lost Dermit but 'e won't lose Angus. Besides, he knows how Moira feels about 'im an' he loves that lass with all 'is heart. Mog's army is comin'. They're in the forest there on the other side o' that bridge. They'll be there sometime tonight." "Good ta know. I'll tell Beren an' Morgan. Speakin' of Beren...he asked me ta tell ya somethin'." "Aye?" "He said for ya ta think serious about what ya discussed before 'e left. He said, it don't matter your answer. Just answer true, an' he'll abide either way. I don't know what that's all about - just relayin' the message." In truth, Gwidion suspected he knew but he wasn't going to pry. "Your army left yet?" "Aye, they'll be there shortly. I have been thinkin'. Ya tell 'im that. I'll tell your mother 'hello' for ya too, darlin'. Now go out there an' prevail an' stay in touch." "Tell 'er...tell 'er I love 'er, will ya?" "Don't that go without sayin'?" Ursala smiled. ***** Thank you for the comments on Connor! I didn't know if I could get the effect I wanted with him, but I did and it's great you noticed :D I appreciate that. What's up next is going to blow you away. It blew me away when I first saw it!! Stay tuned and in the meantime, thank you for coming by and your comments dear friends! Enjoy your weekend. Cheers, Rayvn

I love the verbal pace of this one. A conversation to ease the tension before battle, a bit of information passed on and given out. This has a beautiful feel to it. Ursala filling in while the watchers take their rest. The off centered positioning, the clean light and defined boundaries between the intense darkness. The subtle blue glow comes off just right. Congrats on this being your 200th also.

Sorry I missed this one earlier. I'm so far behind everywhere. As noted above, this a well paced conversation that provides the neccessary info. The mood of the image is excellent. It looks like someone up late working hard on the situation and takes a moment for a 'phone call' and an update. Gwidion's image in the crystal ball is great. Awesome story!
