Jay looked down at her hands. She could feel the heat in her body. To survive the steamy depths of the UnderDark, the scorching, volcanic temperatures of the great caverns carved from the planet’s crust by the power of the fluxcrystal and the magics of the ancient Dark Krell, the Drow had evolved over the millennia since the First Elfkin Wars. Their normal body temperatures were upwards of one hundred and fifteen degrees. They became chilled at what humans would consider room temperature. They hated the surface world in the winter time. That didn’t bother Jay too much. She had no care for the cold northlands or the snows of their new home in Syvasgaard. She’d already made up her mind. She’d be leaving as soon as this quest was done. She’d be heading back to Xanthius on the cliff’s of Equideyea, where she’d be able to travel into the scorching heat of the Deep Desert and feel the Breath of Sachmet on her face once again.

For now, she was supposed to be a Drow Psi-warrior, Warmaster Ginzyne Aleantyl, the senior military expert and advisor of House Kiliryn. As a Colonel of the Symballan Army Elite church guards, the Feyhd’ahki, she certainly knew warcraft sufficiently to be convincing in the part. She would be the trusted advisor and right hand of the First Daughter, and the rest of her disguise was that the Kar’Thane was to be turned into her younger sister, and her own younger sister, Kami, would be nothing more than a house sorceress. That would be the hard part.
