Description
This posting was shot on the same evening as My last two posting. I believe this is a Nacreous Cloud. At first I thought it to be A Circumhorizontal arc. But in reading about them the sun has to be high in the sky. So in reading further I came across Nacreous Clouds. A Nacreous cloud occurs within 2 hours of sunset or Dawn.They occur in the lower regions of the Stratosphere some 9 to 16 miles high.(15 to 25 Km). They are so bright after sunset or before dawn because at those heights they are still sunlit. They are caused by ice crystals that refract light much like a prism giving the colors of the rainbow.
